🎯 Why I Built These Calculators
After struggling with confusing online calculators and making expensive mistakes with position sizing, I built my own tools. Simple, UK-focused, and actually useful.
Every calculator on this page is something I use every single day before entering a trade.
📊 Position Size Calculator
Calculate exactly how much to trade based on your risk tolerance.
The single most important calculator for any trader. Get your position size wrong, and even the best strategy will fail.
What It Does:
- Calculates exact lot size/shares to buy
- Factors in your account balance
- Uses your risk percentage (1-2%)
- Shows your maximum loss in pounds
- Includes UK stamp duty for stocks
When to Use It:
Before EVERY trade. No exceptions.→ Try Position Size Calculator
⚖️ Risk/Reward Calculator
Evaluate if a trade is worth taking before you enter.
A 60% win rate means nothing if you’re risking £100 to make £50. This calculator shows you if the trade makes mathematical sense.
What It Does:
- Calculates risk/reward ratio
- Shows breakeven win rate needed
- Displays profit potential vs. risk
- Helps you filter out bad trades
When to Use It:
After identifying entry and stop loss, before committing to the trade.→ Try Risk/Reward Calculator
💰 Profit/Loss Calculator
Know your real P&L after ALL costs.
Your broker shows profit, but does it include stamp duty? Commission? Spread? This calculator shows the REAL number.
What It Does:
- Calculates gross and net profit/loss
- Includes all trading costs
- Shows breakeven price
- Factors in UK stamp duty
- Displays return percentage
When to Use It:
After closing a trade to know your true performance.→ Try Profit/Loss Calculator
🇬🇧 UK Stamp Duty Calculator
Calculate the 0.5% stamp duty on UK share purchases.
Stamp duty is easy to forget, but on a £10,000 position, that’s £50 – potentially your entire risk budget!
What It Does:
- Calculates exact stamp duty (0.5%)
- Shows total purchase cost
- Displays cost per share
- Shows breakeven sell price
When to Use It:
Before buying any UK shares to factor costs into your position sizing.→ Try UK Stamp Duty Calculator
📈 Pip Value Calculator
Calculate how much each pip is worth in GBP (for forex traders).
Forex is quoted in pips. Your account is in pounds. This bridges the gap.
What It Does:
- Calculates pip value for your lot size
- Converts to GBP
- Shows position size in units
- Displays total position value
When to Use It:
Before entering any forex trade to know exactly what each pip movement means.→ Try Pip Calculator
🛠️ How I Use These Calculators
Here’s my actual workflow for every single trade:
Step 1: Find the Setup
Identify entry point and stop loss based on chart structure.
Step 2: Check Risk/Reward
Open Risk/Reward Calculator
- Input entry, stop, target
- Check ratio (must be 1:2 minimum)
- If ratio is bad → skip the trade
Step 3: Calculate Position Size
Open Position Size Calculator
- Input account size, risk %, entry, stop
- Get exact shares/lots to trade
- Note: If UK shares, stamp duty is already factored in
Step 4: Verify Costs (UK Shares Only)
Open UK Stamp Duty Calculator
- Input position size
- Double-check stamp duty amount
- Confirm it’s factored into risk
Step 5: Enter the Trade
Place order with calculated position size, set stop loss immediately.
Step 6: Track Results
After closing, use Profit/Loss Calculator
- Input all costs
- Calculate REAL P&L
- Log in trading journal
Total time: 2-3 minutes
Confidence: 100%
Math errors: 0
